| Central and Medical Receiving are responsible for receiving and inspecting incoming freight for the University of Arizona, and for identifying damages of goods received. Receiving documents are maintained in Central and Medical receiving. Receiving is tasked with recording receipt of merchandise in FRS as part of the process for vendor payment. SERVICES - Ships University related packages through UPS, both domestic and international

- Ships returned merchandise to vendors
STAFF CONTACT INFORMATION UPS SHIPMENTS: Shipments that are 150 pounds or less can be sent through UPS. All UPS shipments are based on business days. Allow one business day for Central Receiving to pick up your shipment. Complete the UPS/Freight Shipping Form, which can be obtained from Central Receiving, and fax the form to 621-3196. To ensure next day pick up of your package from your department, fax completed form by 4:00pm to Central Receiving. For same day processing, packages can be dropped off at Central Receiving. Additional charges will be apply to your account for the following: - Incorrect address and redelivery by UPS
- UPS service charge
- UPS adjustment charges, such as oversized packages
- Customs fees
FREIGHT SHIPMENTS Non PO Related Package To ship U of A property that is non PO related items, complete a UPS/Freight Shipping form and fax it to Central Receiving at 621-3196 for pick up. Once Central Receiving receives the form a pick up ticket is generated and the item(s) are pick up the next work day. After Central Receiving receives the item(s), the shipment is weighed, measured, classified and palletized. Various shippers are contacted for quotes and your department is notified of the quotes to determine the best carrier for the shipment. Last, the carrier is notified of the shipment. Shippers are required to provide your department with tracking information within 24 hours of the package(s) pick up from Central Receiving. PO Related Package For PO related item(s), complete a Exception Report/Shipping Order form which is obtained through Stores Catalog number 0100-8090. The form is faxed to Central Receiving for package pick up and the original Exception Report given to the driver. After Central Receiving receives the item(s), the process is the same as the Non PO related items above. |
